Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 5, 2026
The Family Law Exchange™ (“FLE,” “we,” “us”) operates thefamilylawexchange.com, a membership platform providing family law education, document templates, and community discussion for self-represented litigants. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Family Law Exchange is not a law firm and nothing on this site is legal advice.
Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, username, and password when you register for membership.
- Social login information: if you sign in with Facebook or another social provider, we receive the basic profile information you authorize that provider to share — typically your name, email address, and profile picture. We never receive or store your Facebook password.
- Content you submit: posts and comments in member discussion boards, messages you send us, applications you submit (such as the Court Companion application), and documents you voluntarily provide for services such as Record Room AI™ or document review.
- Usage information: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies used to keep you logged in and to understand how the site is used.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage your membership account and log you in (including via Facebook Login).
- To provide member services: courses, the document library, discussion boards, the Court Companion program, and document-related services you request.
- To communicate with you about your account, the platform, and member resources.
- To maintain the security of the site and enforce our community standards.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share the contents of documents you submit except as needed to provide the service you requested.
- We do not post to your Facebook account or contact your Facebook friends.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as web hosting and email delivery), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our members and the public. Content you post in member discussion boards is visible to other members.
Sensitive Information
Because of the nature of family law, information and documents you choose to share with us or post in member spaces may relate to legal proceedings and family circumstances. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing, and avoid posting information that identifies minors. Court records you submit for Record Room AI™ are used solely to provide that service.
Data Retention
We retain account information while your membership is active. You may delete your account or request deletion of your data at any time — see our Data Deletion page. We may retain limited records where required by law.
Your Rights & Choices
- You can access and update your profile information from your account settings.
- You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by emailing admin@familylawexchange.com.
- You can disconnect Facebook Login at any time from your Facebook settings; instructions are on our Data Deletion page.
Children
The Family Law Exchange is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy on this page.
